Submissions are now open for Plenary Publishing’s Second Annual Anthology Competition! We are seeking short stories and poetry for the second volume of our anthology, which will be published in 2014. In this special collection, we want to publish stories and poetry that reflect the life and reality of being a person of color in our society. Your work can deal with a variety of topics and themes, including gender, family, love and relationships, and social issues. There is no limit to what you can write about, though we ask that your work fits our mission to publish books that reflect the depth and beauty of the American culture, and books that feature rich and diverse characters who are not written with the same one-dimensional template. We want to work with great writers and, hopefully, assist in taking your writing career to the next level!
Your work must be original. No previously published or contracted work will be considered. Please note that your work cannot appear in any other publication, whether online, in print, or any other distribution method, until after the publication of our anthology. Please do not add illustrations or pictures to your submission. Multiple entries may be submitted. Writers and poets retain their copyright.
Writers are invited to enter short stories that ideally range between 2,500-5,000 words. We are, however, flexible with the word count. Please provide a brief synopsis or description of your story.
Poets must submit no less than five poems, and a maximum of 10 poems.
For all submissions, please include your biography, list of prior works or publications, if applicable, and your motivation for writing. Please email your submission to submissions[at]plenarypublishing.com. Paste all requested material into the body of your email.
